We want to make the DFW and North Texas area the “must visit” destination in Texas and the region and we need your help.

The Council is formulating its outer market advertising campaign as well as starting work on our summer radio promotions. Travelers will still continue to seek out all types of deals and discounts when making travel plans. Last year, the program provided over 15 million prospective visitor impressions.

As a DFWATC member and partner, there are several ways in which you can be involved – and at no cost – creating both awareness of your product, as well as further advancing DFWATC’s regional promotional outreach.

DFWandBeyond.com – Deals and Packages:

Our “deals and packages” section of our website highlights and profiles member deals and packages, that can be searched by category, tour theme and by city.

With rising gas prices, visitors are still looking for great deals and values and we will be posting a variety of deals, discounts, and packages that can be featured on our website, in our online promotions, advertising, and more. Make sure we have all the information about your special packages and promotions, and we’ll include the info in our work, all at no cost to you.

Summer Radio Promotions:

Through the barter donations from our members, the Council creates packages that can be given away on-air with radio stations in key cities within our drive market. This provides our members and our area with thousands of dollars worth of free media coverage. Last year, we generated over $303,000 of coverage through these promotions alone.

For our 2012 promotions, we very much need certificates for hotel stays (can be one-night stays or weekend – whatever works for your property) along with attraction tickets, shopping/gift certificates, dining certificates, and transportation vouchers, or other elements that can be included in these packages.

In 2011, we put together 73 tour‐themed packages with radio partners in nine markets (Abilene, Little Rock, Midland, Odessa, Oklahoma City, Shreveport, Waco and Wichita Falls) May through October 2011. 2011 Promotional Value: $303,322
Following is an example of what the “power of one” hotel room coupled with attraction tickets can do for promoting the region.

This is from an actual 2011 promotion in Little Rock, Ark – Cumulus Broadcasting.

Promotion Details: DFW & Beyond was the Sponsor of the Girl’ Night Out 2011 which included: 3900+ Live & Pre‐recorded promotional announcements on KURB, KLAL, KIPR,KARN FM, KARN AM, KOKY, KPZK, KAAY, and the Arkansas Radio Network (49 stations, 43 markets). Also Stage Announcements at Event.

Estimated Value: $25,000

Values/exposure varies by station, but the value of the promotion is never less than 4 to 1 (value of the package). This is exposure not only for the hotels and attractions but for the Dallas, Fort Worth & Beyond as a whole. It’s a win‐win deal for everyone!

The attached form (click here) can be returned at anytime throughout the year but we ask and encourage that you please return it to the Council Office as soon as possible – so we can start putting together our promotions for the end of May. We will need the actual tickets and certificates by the end of May. Thank you.

As you know, AH&LA successfully secured a 60-day extension of the swimming pool and spa compliance deadline and persuaded the Department of Justice (DOJ) to consider a longer extension to September 17, 2012. However, the lodging industry must contact Congress to keep pressure on the DOJ to adopt the proper interpretation of its regulation which would allow the use of portable pool lifts that are brought out upon request and that can be shared between pools and spas.

We are asking you to contact your member of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the bipartisan legislation (H.R. 4256) titled, “Pool Safety and Accessibility for Everyone (Pool SAFE) Act,” recently introduced by Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-SC).

Contact your Representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Pool SAFE Act in the House.

The Pool SAFE Act would provide a one year delay for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pool lift requirement, allow the use of portable lifts, allow sharing of lifts between pools and spas, and protect hoteliers from being sued during the delay period. AH&LA supports this legislation as it provides a reasonable solution to the pool lift requirement, while still providing access to travelers with disabilities.
