DARS can be a great partner to businesses in updating their affirmative action plans and providing them with qualified applicants for the positions they are trying to fill. Currently Tarrant County’s unemployment rate is below 4 percent. The Texas Workforce Commission considers anything below 4 percent to be a county that is “fully employed”. That means employers aren’t getting a great deal of applicants when they have openings. DARS has people ready to work, that we’ve worked with to make sure they’re ready and have the accommodations in place when they start working, if they need any.

Below are 2 links for you to review. One is a general flyer about DARS and employment. The other is about job retention. People can acquire a disability at any time- an accident, aging, disease, etc. DARS can help the employer by coming in, assessing the situation, provide accommodations, and allow them to retain a valuable employee.

DARS and Employer Partnerships that Work

DARS can help with job retention

DARS also provides training to hotels and other businesses on how to assist a guest with a disability. People with disabilities of course travel and we can come in and provide free training to staff on how to best assist that guest in any situation.

Because DARS is a state agency, all of their services are already paid for with Federal and State tax dollars so everything they offer is at no cost to the hotels. In some instances, DARS can help pay for accommodations even.
