It was almost standing room only at the final Big Game update meeting hosted by HATC at the beautiful Renaissance Worthington on January 13.   Headlined with a big game mayoral update by the dynamic and always witty, Mayor Moncrief, and a Big Game Checklist by Super Bowl Host Committee COO, Tara Green, the meeting brought hospitality professionals from every discipline together for one last industry pep rally and prep rally for the Big Game in a few days.

Among some of the major highlights were surprising statistics from the Mayor on Fort Worth’s position as the 9th safest city in the nation, coupled by his tauting our North Texas Hospitality as being one of the key decision factors in winning the 2011 Big Game bid.  That, married with our incredible inventory of hotels and venues to support the more than 150, 000 people that will descend on our city in a couple of weeks, made us stand out among other cities in the nation.

Tara Green followed the Mayor with Big Game updates on how to manage the influx of traffic into the city, such as maps and information on traffic flow, road closings and more – more details may be found at NORTH TEXAS SUPERBOWL.

Among Tara’s highlights were the fact that more than the media coverage alone for the Big Game is valued at more than $40 million in media coverage for North Texas, with 150,000 visitors and, interestingly, only about 90,000 of those visitors actually have game tickets. The balance are here for promotional opportunities, sponsorship interests and to attend the hundreds of Big Game special events and parties that will take place all across North Texas.

Downtown Fort Worth is all abuzz with the set up for ESPN, who will cover the event live the week leading up to the Big Game, and plenty of parties and events are planned just around that coverage alone in Cowtown.

TABC updates were also given, and TABC Resource Guides were distributed to each attendee to help them prepare for the Big Game.

The event ended with a wine pull for HATC members who assisted in the recruitment of new members in 2010.

Overall, it was an informative and exciting day for Tarrant County, made possible by the hands of HATC.
