On March 5th, we hosted our first ever Dine Around event. The Dine Around, co-hosted by MPI, began at the DFW Marriott South where, as always, everything was exceptional. We enjoyed refreshments, cocktails and appetizers as we mingled with old and new friends in anticipation of the ride to come.
We then boarded two buses courtesy of Cowtown Charters, where we were driven to the next phase of our journey; the Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine. We were able to take a tour of the hotel on the backside overlooking the lake and equestrian center. It was a beautiful view as we watched the sunset over the western horizon. We then sat down to a great salad with some terrific wine choices to finish off our first stop of the evening.
After that, our destination was to head to Fort Worth and enjoy our main entrée at the Stockyards Station. Not much compares to the experience of a trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards. You could just feel the heritage and history as we stepped off of the bus. While approaching the entrance through the rustic and famous dining hall you could really smell the Tex-Mex cuisine that was waiting for us. During our dinner we enjoyed the wonderful music of the “Tres Leches Trio”.
Just when we thought the evening could not get any better, it was time to finish off our dining journey with a terrific dessert selection at our final dining stop, the Holiday Inn in North Arlington. There were so many dessert selections it was honestly hard to choose which one would have been the favorite of everyone. From the decadent chocolate cake, the fabulously rich Tiramisu or other great delicacies, it was all wonderful. After a quick cup of coffee it was time to head home.
Along the way through the evening we enjoyed some adult beverages courtesy of Coors and the City of Grapevine. We played trivia games with prizes for each city represented in the Dine Around. There was also a surprise twist on the evening with the addition of a free Poker Run. Everyone received a sealed envelope with a playing card in it at each location for a total of five cards. The envelopes were opened by the judges once we got back to the DFW Marriott South to determine the best poker hand and announce our winners. Each of the winners received trips and dining vouchers from our casino friends.
