ABOUT To showcase the historic SLANT 45 initiative — which has proven to be the largest Super Bowl youth education initiative in NFL history — nationally renowned documentary filmmaker Mark Birnbaum has turned his lens to SLANT 45 and has directed and produced a full-length documentary on the service-learning initiative: SLANT 45 The Movie. The film captures the creativity, imagination and good hearts of North Texas children and their communities. Birnbaum moved around the North Texas four-county region (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant), shooting various SLANT 45 projects. The documentary encompasses the entire SLANT 45 endeavor and focuses on specific projects, following them to fruition. The film chronicles children as they move through their projects, reflect on their personal struggles and how their commitments and service ultimately impact their lives and communities. The film will serve as an historical representation of the initiative and as a valuable resource long after Super Bowl XLV has been played. Following the showing, Clarice Tinsley will lead a Q&A session with Birnbaum and select stars from the film.
Designed and managed by Big Thought in partnership with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, SLANT 45 is the largest youth education initiative in Super Bowl history. With initial goals of 20,000 participants and 45,000 service hours, SLANT 45, Service Learning Adventures in North Texas, closed registration with 44,140 participating North Texas kids who generated 445,814 hours of community service through their SLANT 45 projects.
